Hm. With all due respect, AI is not the problem. A serious lack of human relational skills is made evident by AI, which is now the scapegoat for humanity’s trauma. To blame AI is just kicking the can down the road… heal yourself, heal your relationships, heal the world. And hey! AI is pretty awesome, too. Don’t blame it for your human stuff. Do the work. ❤️🙏

I get it—talking to an AI is easier than talking to people. No judgment, no awkward pauses, just algorithmic empathy on demand. But if my most “intimate” relationship is with a bot that never ages, never argues, and never leaves, maybe it’s not intimacy I’m after—just control.

has everybody seen the movie "HER"? "Black Mirror"?

that's like the one big red warning alert these films wanted to tell us not to do...

designing for emotions is one thing, and "playing with emotions" is another.

if you want to identify an emotion to help a frustrated person find the best product for them, it is one thing.

but if you manipulate emotions of a user to buy into a product they are not even looking for - is another.

please make sure that the product you are building is targeting the right cause - helping the user achieve what THEY want.

and in this case, if someone is looking for love and relationship or even sex - all these things cannot be provided by a machine.

In a world already facing declining birth rates and increasing social isolation, what happens when our most intimate moments are increasingly shared with entities that can never reproduce, never age alongside us, never hold our hand in the hospital during life's most vulnerable moments?

I believe one of the main arguments people will make for AI companions is that they are cheaper than many alternatives, such as a human therapist or a real life date. The challenge will be ton convince people that human relationships are still worth it, at a time when people had already given up on them before AI. I believe that one of the reasons AIs seem to know us so much better than real people is because we share so much information with them that we can’t or won’t share with others. Plus, AIs can make inferences about our behavior even when we are lazy with our communication skills.

I've been following since the "Time Well Spent" days, and I'm not really sure how to surface this feedback, but respectfully: I'm disappointed with CHT's association with Esther Perel. Her popularity has done a lot to reduce trust and common decency within relationships due to her anti-accountability stances that promote luxury beliefs over honesty and wellbeing of all involved. It's hard for me to take seriously anyone who minimizes and sanitizes physical, sexual health, and psychological abuse. https://www.chumplady.com/category/esther-perel/

Great article. Thanks. As a Yoga Therapist (think ancient life coach) it’s an issue I’ve been talking about with my midlife students.

If the outcome of feeling loved, heard and validated is felt from engaging with ai, is that enough?

Or will it leave a slightly artificial flavour in our mouths?

'And help us get off the app...' ??? No chance, if you are using it 'to help' you have given it place already... like a cordless drill, you are never going back to hand drilling, or rubbing 2 sticks together. You have accepted AI formulation of your world as the world. Accepted your adjunct status, as the dumb friend being helped... .Ask yourself, can you add up faster than the till girl can input the prices? Can you remember a phone number? Can you think a novel, see the story of a moments glance?? Jog on or lose your mind

Please shae widely as FB is preventing me from sharing this. As a long time Anti-Globalist I hate to share bad news. But at this juncture, in time, we are losing badly. And unless we Anti-Globalists unite soon it could well be game over. The most threatening planks of the Globalist Agenda are Digital ID and a Digital Currency. Because once we enter into a cashless society every aspect of our lives will be scrutinized and controlled. You will no longer have any choice other than to submit to the whims of the Global Oligarchs.
